Above-Ground Biomass (AGB)

The mass of living vegetation above the soil, including stems, branches and foliage, usually expressed as dry mass.

At a glance

The mass of living vegetation above the soil, including stems, branches and foliage, usually expressed as dry mass.

Why it matters

Biomass is an important input to forest carbon estimates and comparisons of vegetation condition.

An operating example

Compare estimated biomass across plantation boundaries and observation dates using an appropriate validated model.

Illustrative application, not a live customer result or a guarantee of product availability.

What it does and does not tell you

Biomass is not the same as carbon stock. Species, measurement method and conversion assumptions matter.
